Many individuals appear to find changing gas lines to be a challenging undertaking. The hardest part is disconnecting the pipe from the stove and the regulator. We don’t have to remove a gas pipe for months after we install it.

Most individuals choose to cut the pipe rather than removing it. But you can get the pipe out of your gas stove hose without cutting it. However, there are exceptions to this too, which I will tell shortly.

However, while removing the gas pipe, extra caution care must be used as when installing it. You can remove gas pipes quickly and easily using certain simple techniques.

Caution: Operations of these kinds must either be performed under the surveillance of the professionals or the experts themselves to avoid any mishap.

Here we will help you remove gas pipe from gas stove without damaging both. Keep reading to find out more!

So there are three ways:

There are three ways to remove the gas pipe from your gas stove’s hose or regulator.

A. Hot Water

With 5 easy steps, you can remove your gas stove pipe:

  1. Take a bowl filled with 2 to 3 glass of water.
  2. Pour hot water on the piece of pipe you’re attempting to remove, whether it’s on the regulator’s side or on the stove. And do it slowly and carefully.
  3. Wait a minute after finishing this as it will expand because of hot water.
  4. Now that you have dropped the water on pipe, it gets soften . Try to remove the gas pipe by yourself and it should come out easily.
  5. It’s a versatile trick and can be used for both rubber and plastic gas pipes.

Note: While you are pouring water on the gas pipe, place a bowl or similar object beneath the gas pipe.

B. With Candle:

Though this is the method not so very recommended, at some points it becomes inevitable. This point or situation comes when the option of pouring hot water is not feasible anymore.

The main reason could be attributed to the corrosion within your gas pipe and regulator which makes it very hard to take it off.

If that is the situation, then there is another option for you. However, this option comes with precautionary measures and you should keep your gas stove and the regulator separate from cylinder.

  1. Light a candle and keep it under you gas stove pipe. Place the pipe above the candle and rotate it in gentle slow motion so that the pipe doesn’t burn off.
  2. After 10-15 seconds, try to pull off the gas pipe from the regulator with force as much as possible. Twisting in this regard could be very helpful also.

Note: Be careful while doing this method and rotate the pipe as much as possible to avoid any fire hazards.

Though it is not very recommended, still it is a choice to go with. As you may, in some instances find it difficult to implement upon the above two instructions due to some rare case, it can come in handy.

So, to remove the pipe from the side of the regulator or gas stove, make a small incision type hole and pull it out easily. Be careful that you may not cut it too much.

Simply make a short straight cut from where you are attempting to remove the pipe, then pull the gas pipe with your hands; this will automatically remove the gas line with little effort.

If you are wondering then not cut pipe, if cut is necessity here. Well, that is because of avoiding to shorten the length of gas pipe and make removing the cut pipe piece harder.

Because LPG gas is very flammable, suitable safety precautions must be taken when dealing with it. Here are some pointers on how to securely cut LPG gas pipe:

  1. Ensure that the area around the pipe is well aired. Be careful that no source of ignitions or open fires are nearby when you are doing this.
  2. Make a clean, straight cut through the pipe using a sharp knife or cutting instrument.
  3. Put some pressure to the ends of cut pipe with the help of your hands and seal them off. This will aid in preventing gas leaks.
  4. When installing a new LPG gas line, ensure sure the ends are perfectly smooth and devoid of any rough edges or sharp points. This will aid in the prevention of leaks and other issues during the installation of the new pipe.
