Can You Use Foil Tape On Stove Pipe
Generally, it is not recommended to use foil tape on a stove pipe by the cooktop manufacturing companies as well as foil tape manufacturing companies. Reasons? Plenty.
Though in some cases, using foil tape on a stove pipe can help to create a tight seal between the pipe and the wall or other surface it is attached to, which can help to prevent leaks.
However, it cannot resist the temperature. Plus it is not very good for irregular shapes and with the passage of time it’ll lose its durability.
Not only this, using foil tape on a stove pipe can also create a dangerous fire hazard. As such, it is always important to consult with a professional before using foil tape on a stove pipe.
Moreover, the type of your gas pipe does also play a role here. A steel pipe would become hotter more expeditiously. Hence, harmful to foil paper. In the meanwhile, a plastic pipe will take lesser time in exceeding the prescribed temperature. But still, plastic or not, the foil tape will erode out.

US Department of Energy, in their detailed research upon the home Sealing and Insulating Ducts in Existing Homes, have abstained from using foil tape or duct tape for sealing, in consideration of reason that these tapes are thin and are not able to conform with the curves and irregular shapes.
